Hello,

Thank you for contacting Friendster Support.

Over the past several days we've been upgrading our service and you may have experienced site issues, discrepancies in counts or even friends missing from your friends list.

If friends on your friend's list are missing, please be patient; they are not permanently deleted and are still in our database (we're just having problems displaying them). We are working on restoring your entire friend's list and should have the complete list back within the next several days.

Thank you again for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience.

If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know.

That's the reply they sent for the complaint i sent last Saturday [where i asked "how did i get 311 friends when i only got 106 and i don't know where the added 204 came from"]. They're "upgrading" their service, they said. But i wonder why an upgrade would cause such a big ruckus. Is it a big changing of codes that it messed up the database in general?

Let's bear with the problem a little more, as i think they're trying to make things better... perhaps. As for me, my list is still counting as 311... though i got my 106 friends back already.

Looking forward 'til everything gets fixed. Keep it up, Friendster! =]

Though i was sure that their tech said that, i recently saw this when looking at my friends' list:

Here are some FAQs to help address your concerns:

  • What happened to my friends?
    Currently, the number of friends in the friends list is being displayed incorrectly.

  • Are my friends lost permanently?
    No. The data for all friend connections is intact and is not lost.

  • When can this be fixed?
    Friendster is currently working on this problem and we hope to have this fixed within 24 hours.

  • Can I still add friends while the problem has not yet been fixed?
    Yes, users can still add new friends and use other features of the site.

  • What caused this problem?
    There was a building-wide power outage at the QTS / Globix data center in Sunnyvale, California, USA where Friendster’s servers are co-located, along with about 50 other customers. As a result, the memory caching of data was affected. Since Friendster has 85 million users, the cache is taking a considerable amount of time to build. Once the cache has been completely built, all friends will re-appear.

I'm a bit confused. Is it upgrading or power outage? Or are you guys on the process of upgrading to compensate for the damage of that power outage?

my friends was restored yesterday and few hours ago, my friends got lost again . . WTH, i dont care if this wre due to power outage or upgrade . . our demand is to fix this mess ASAP .. . .

i heard that there are some users also complaining bout their media box,,, well i dont want to try to edit it cuz i dont want to ruin my profile,,, WTF!!! tsk tsk,,, too much problem at fs,,, i hope they can explain to us what was really happening to friendster...and now fs is loading too slow...

seems like i want to switch to other site,,,when this problems at fs didn't solve....

why is it that my lost/missing friends are not yet back at my friendlist..last time it was about 600+..up until now it's only 400+..

Thanks friendster team for fixing the problem but i am still lacking like 90 or 80 friends if i remember correctly. Hope the problem will be completely fixed.
