ANTIsocial Behaviour, Culture shock, Racial Discrimination

experienced any of the following? my experience seems shallow, but when i stayed in tokyo, my view of wearing flipflops changed totally. i grew up on the beach and it's always comfortable to me to wear slippers.. i felt embarrassed when people look at my feet with criticizing eyes, tho my toes are clean and well pedicured. ive learned that they have a different perspective about da feet. now, i only wear slippers during summer, but not too often.

when I went to Hongkong, I learned that that people there are a lot less polite than Filipinos. Actually, my relatives say that the Chinese do seem a little rude. Quite different from the British.

I'm being racist ain't I?

Racism? No..
Culture Shock? Yes
My early teen years here in Oz (which is also my early years in Australia), I was surprised some mates calling me "arsehole", "dickhead", "wombat" and many other insulting names. I found out it's their way of establishing rapport. WEIRD!!

its definitely just a culture shock. i experienced racism in south africa, white poeple there will look at you as if youre a leper... good thing that the country itself is throwing them away.

calling an aussie a kiwi is more offensive than calling them drongo which basically means idiot. kiwis are the new zealanders.. aussies usually call themselves as dinkie di aussie or true blue aussie so if you call them by other nationality they'll be kinda offended..

you know it's not so much as color or ethnicity, but more of education/understanding of individuals i had dealt with. oh and believe me i dealt with all the above ...though i'll admit i am big at critizing latinos in general....i have such beef with "la raza" i heavily look down on "latino pride", "chicanos" and most latin orgins....just tired of being sterotyped as 1 of them and more than this, i'm exhausted of being called a "sell out" because i do not conform with the old world views.

culture shock must be very shocking. I presume that people migrate from other countries are being oriented with the culture not to experience culture shock???
