I guess because it's one of the few animes that actually managed to last as long as it has, without losing sight of the story, becoming too confusing, or going bad. I love the storyline, read the manga and view the anime. It's got that nice middlepoint between being childish and mature. I used to prefer evangelion, but the story got totally screwed. Also Azumangah, but it ended, Lucky Star, Blue sub, The melancholy of yadah yadah, bleach, rozen maiden, death note, but in the end, Naruto outlasted them all. I know bleach is still going, but lost interest, although it's just as good as naruto.
