Executive Management Team

Richard B. Kimber, Chief Executive Officer

Richard leads the company's global business, guiding Friendster's operations in Asia as well as the U.S. Richard comes to Friendster with strong Internet credentials, a notable track record of managing operations in several international locations, a deep network and knowledge of the Asia Pacific region, experience in consumer Internet monetization and strategy, marketing and sales expertise.

Most recently, Richard was the regional managing director of South Asia at Google, where he successfully led business operations and strategic partnerships across the region. Prior to Google, Richard was the CEO for FirstDirect Bank in the UK, a subsidiary of HSBC Holdings plc, the world's largest banking group. Richard previously served as global head of eMarketing and CEO of HSBC Internet Payment at HSBC Bank USA. Additional experience includes roles as head of personal eBusiness at HSBC, founder and managing director at HSBC InvestDirect, associate director at Westpac Banking Corp., and other important positions at leading banking establishments.

Richard holds an MBA in Strategy / Finance and a BSc in Psychology / Statistics from Macquarie University in Australia.


Chander Sarna, CTO, SVP

Chander manages Friendster’s engineering and operations organizations distributed across both the United States and the Philippines, and has extensive experience working at high-profile start-ups. Prior to Friendster, Chander was a Senior Director of Engineering at Siebel Systems and VP of Engineering at Greenlight.com. Additional work experience includes Director of Product Development at Netscape and engineering positions at Borland, Tandem and Intel.

Chander holds an MSCS from SUNY Stony Brook, MSEE from Rensselaer Polytechnic & a BSEE from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani.


Nimesh Shah, CFO

Nimesh manages Friendster's global financial planning, statutory and management reporting, auditing and oversee corporate development initiatives. Nimesh is a chartered accountant and brings more than 10 years of experience in finance and accounting to the team. He previously held the position of finance director while at Fairfax Digital, Australia's leading provider of online news and classifieds, for the past seven years. Prior to Fairfax, Nimesh held senior positions at Ernst & Young, Dell Computer and UUNET. As CFO,.

Nimesh holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales.


Andy Spillane, SVP of Product Management

Andy is responsible for both product strategy and product management of Friendster’s portfolio of web and mobile products and services. Andy brings over 20 years in product development and management to the team from leading technology companies including Netscape, AOL, and Yahoo!. Prior to Friendster, Andy served as vice president of messaging and social media products at AOL where he provided strategic direction and management for AOL’s messaging & social media products including AIM, AIM Profiles, AIM Chat, and myAOL. Prior to AOL, Andy was responsible for the management and direction of the world’s largest email service as vice president and general manager of Yahoo! Mail.

Andy holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Systems Engineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia.


Aaron Barnes, Vice President of Global Sales & Business Development

Aaron manages all sales, business development, and advertising operations for the company. He brings over 18 years of experience in sales, marketing and operations with an impressive track record in online advertising sales, business development and subscriptions. Aaron has held senior sales, marketing and business development roles at Sequoia Capital backed Quote.com (Lycos Finance), Trident Capital backed WhenU, Inc., and publicly traded Looksmart (NASDAQ: LOOK). Aaron's global sales strategies and tactics implemented have resulted in Friendster scaling revenue to historic company highs in 2006 and 2007 while in parallel significantly improving the synergistic efficiencies of strategic business alliances.

Aaron holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from University of Pennsylvania and studied Entrepreneurial Management at The Wharton School of Business.


David Jones, Vice President of Global Marketing

David manages all of Friendster’s global marketing initiatives and has more than 19 years experience in marketing, business development, and product and business strategy. Prior to joining Friendster, David held several marketing and general management roles at eBay Inc, including roles focused on scaling the number of active members of the eBay community. David was also the director of eBay's media and entertainment businesses in the United States. Prior to eBay, David was the Vice President of Business Development at Blue Wireless and an associate partner at the management and technology consulting firm of Arthur D. Little.

David holds a B.A. from Stanford University in Quantitative Economics with Honors & Distinction.


Karin Visnick, VP Business Operations

Karin manages Friendster’s worldwide business operations, including customer care, legal, human resources, corporate operations and business processes. Karin has more than 10 years experience in business operations, product management and marketing at both start-ups and more established companies. Prior to Friendster, Karin was vice president of product management at SNOCAP, Inc., a provider of digital licensing and copyright management services for the digital music marketplace, where she oversaw all product strategy and direction. Prior to SNOCAP, she held executive and management positions at HSBC and Yahoo!.
