The role requires the rapid recruitment and set up of new Friendster Fan Profiles. This role will be responsible for locating and contacting key entities (artists and organizations) and helping them establish Fan Profiles on Friendster. This person will have a through understanding of local and regional arts/entertainment culture and know how to best find and recruit key entities into Fan Profiles. Additionally, this person will meet with many potential Fan Profile owners like record labels, radio stations, non-profits, publications, artist management companies, etc and introduce them to the Fan Profile product. Once set up, this person will also account manage major Fan Profiles, oversee activity on them, gather feedback from them, answer questions, gather competitive intelligence, and more. While general marketing and PR are important to the company in Singapore and South East Asia, this person will not be focused on these activities, but will focus exclusively on Fan Profile acquisition and retention.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, this person:
- Must have extensive experience in entertainment (music, movies, television, publications, multimedia, gaming) and be able to identify key content producers, labels, artists, fashion entities, gamers, bloggers, video/film producers, events, etc. for Friendster Fan Profiles
- Must know (and study) local and regional arts and entertainment culture, and be very outgoing and social.
- Must have expertise in presenting. This role will explain and sell the Fan Profile product feature set to potential Fan Profile owners via telephone and in-person presentations and live site demos.
- Has 8 to 20 years of total work experience, a majority of which should be in the consumer-facing entertainment or media space, a majority of which in Singapore or South East Asia. Proven experience with consumer related Internet companies is also strongly preferred. In terms of education, a four-year university degree, BA/ BS or its equivalent, is required.
- Must be undeniably, completely fluent in English (written and verbal), fluency in other languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Malay, Thai or Bahasa Indonesian is a big plus.

Position Summary
Friendster is seeking an experienced team member to design and produce hundreds of high quality Fan Profiles for artists and organizations globally, and predominantly in the Asia Pacific region. The Fan Profile producer will be one of the first marketing hires in the region (joining over 30 others in the Manila office), and will play a major role in growing the number of high quality Fan Profiles on Friendster.com. This person will be an integral part of many South East Asia focused, high profile, Fan Profile marketing programs. This position reports to the Director of Marketing in San Francisco, California.
The role requires the rapid set up and customization of new Friendster Fan Profiles. This role will be responsible for using a variety of graphical creation programs (Photoshop, Illustrator), compiling CSS/HTML and building professional looking Fan Profiles complete with customized skins, embedded widgets/apps, text content, background images, photos and videos. The Designer will build online identities for artists and organizations and capture core styles, characteristics, and themes of a particular artist/organization in each profile design.
This role will coordinate with a local, on-site, Fan Profile Marketing Manager who will be driving a lot the local Fan Profile initiatives in South East Asia. This person should also have a general understanding of local and regional arts/entertainment culture and be able to translate this knowledge into great looking Fan Profiles. This role may also require in person meetings with potential Fan Profile owners like record labels, radio stations, non-profits, publications, etc to gain understanding of some of the design requirements for particular profiles. This person will also be responsible for exceeding Fan Profile creation and deployment goals and will participate in bi-weekly status calls with the US team.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, this person:
- Must have extensive design skills and be proficient in key graphical creation software like Photoshop and Illustrator

Position Summary
Friendster is seeking an experienced team member as “the evangelist” worldwide for the Friendster Developer Program. The evangelist will:
- Cultivate, grow and manage relationships with third-party developers to bring any successful or potentially successful app on other social networks to Friendster’s users, and encourage developers to build new apps of interest for Friendster users
- Cultivate a vibrant, healthy and positive developer community on Friendster
- Drive awareness of the developer program, its success and opportunities
- Contribute to the developer program product priorities and evolution.
Achieving these objectives will help Friendster continue to grow the active user base, increase user engagement (time spent on site), and increase revenues.
Responsibilities:
- One-on-one outreach, aggregated outreach and marketing to developers of any successful or desirable app anywhere (to encourage them and help them bring their app to Friendster)
- Participate in discussions with strategic partners and a subset of interested developers to speed their adoption and ensure best practices during implementation
- Prioritize and plan developer program events, and participation in relevant conferences, both in the US and Asia
- Work closely with PR and Marketing to obtain high-profile speaking slots at key events around the globe, positive mentions in appropriate press outlets, etc.
- Enlist the Friendster community to get members generating ideas and developers building them
- Help promote interesting, valuable and/or useful apps
- Help shape the developer program product priorities by providing analysis and recommendations leveraging feedback from current and potential developers to (and working with) product management, engineering, marketing, and business development.
You will be measured on growth in the adoption of the developer program, the contribution to company objectives of developer applications, and the health and long-term success of the overall developer community. You need to be able to work very well with both business and technical people, both within the company and at developers and partner companies.
This Developer Program Evangelist will be the primary evangelist dedicated to this critical area for Friendster. This position reports to the Vice President of Global Marketing in San Francisco, California.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, this person:
- Has 4 to 8 years of total work experience and a track record of success in consumer-related Internet companies. 4+ years valid work experience as a software developer, technology evangelist, or product manager for relevant web technologies.
- BA/ BS or its equivalent, is required. Computer Science degree, a similar degree, or work experience in software / product development is strongly preferred,
- The ideal candidate brings a broad mix of skills in marketing, program or product management, account management and support, all while speaking the language of developers. The perfect candidate could in fact get a job as a Web 2.0 developer, but enjoys working with customers so much that he or she would rather not be an engineer.

Position Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent, Masters degree preferred.
- 5 plus years of product management experience leading website and/or web development efforts
- Experience building web site applications utilizing technologies such as J2ME, LAMP, Java Script.
- Ability to prioritize among competing opportunities, balance consumer needs with business priorities, retain focus on key goals, and articulate the rationale behind decisions
- Ability to drive both the tactical rollout and strategically vision of a product

Friendster is currently seeking a Senior Web Developer with production Internet experience developing in a high-volume commercial/consumer website. This position will be a member of the Engineering team and will participate in the continued development of Friendster’s patent pending social network database technology as well as the development of other key infrastructural components of our service.
Position Responsibilities
- Provides system architecture guidance
- Designs and supports the implementation of major architectural enhancements
- Delivers high-quality LAMP-based software components on-time
- Will work with the Operations and Quality Assurance departments to spearhead the rollout of new features and code updates on the site
- Seeks opportunities to contribute features and enhancements to open source software projects in which Friendster participates
- Mentors at least one other member of the Engineering staff
Position Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- 6+ years employed in backend web development
- Proven track record of delivering on-time, quality code
- Preferred skills in the use of MySQL or other relational databases, especially query optimization and schema design
- Background developing for a primarily Linux environment
- Clear understanding of the operation of the IP stack in Linux and of load balancing technologies
- Must have some past development experience with at least one compiled language (C/C++ or Java preferred)
- Large website experience with an understanding of scaling issues
