      • About Me:

Perpetually misunderstood. An outcast among outcasts.

Yet I strive to be understood through my writing. These days, I've been working on TV drama scripts with the target of Japan, since my love and soul are there. Most of my dramas involve myself as a Japanese-American and a foreigner, attempting to fit in. Here in America, I never really felt like I fit in. In Japan, I felt the same way. Yet somehow in not fitting, I felt more comfortable than in any environment. When i was attending UC Berkeley for a short period, I thought that my life would change because of its reputation as a non-conformist zone. Despite that, I had a larger urge to conform. Perhaps, my feelings of insecurity arose as a result of the need not to fit in.

So why Japan? maybe because it's reputed to be so closed at times that you want to be the icepick that shatters the glacier. Whenever I'm there i feel as though there's a loaded brick on my shoulder, ready to go off like a firecracker, except rather than in exploding in my face, it's going to nail everyone else around me and force people to take notice of who I am.

strangely enough though, i feel more alienated and reticent in that society than any others, at the same time an inner strength as i watch the millions of drones bypass me with eyes of conformity and self-absorbed thought. those feelings though give rise to such a passion in my writing that inspires me like no other place in the world. perhaps a lot of that inspiration is my hormones lighting up like a solar flare with all the cute girls bypassing me. or perhaps it's the excitement of the attractions of the city. yet there is a mystique that i can't explain through regular expository which draws me there like a child to a box of donuts. however, i can explain it through my viewpoint as a storyteller.

hopefully one day when i finish my writing, many of you will look upon it and find something profound in what i see.

        BTW, I'm back in Tokyo.

      • Keith is a cool gaijin living in Tokyo
who works way too much. He's into heavy
metal and other types of music. He
loves kung-fu movies and Japanese pop-
        culture including wrestling. Someone
please drag him away from his computer
and show him a good time, again he
works too much. He goes out of his way
to help others so it's about time some
did the same for him (ideally some cute
        bi-lingual Japanese girl).
